In 2003 artist Valerio Ventura began photographing markings that city workers spray on the pavement to announce the arrival of excavation crews. Ventura kept on photographing these symbols for years and created an art project accompanied by a clothing line based on this "street runes". The artist calls it Urban Archeology, and uses the project as a metaphor for creativity and communication. All photography and art in the book was created by the artist.
